The house

A house that’s glad you’re here.

For people who value depth, presence, and authentically relating to one another.

We're building something closer to an intentional community: a home where people are honest and warm with each other, the living room is a commons, and the doors open outward.

Each of us brings our own communities, and this house welcomes them, through gatherings, practice nights, and friends who drop by.

  • Your weirdness is welcome here.
  • Your queerness is celebrated here.
  • Your stims, needs and big feelings don’t need explaining.
  • Your friends and communities are welcome to visit.
  • Rest doesn’t have to be earned.

What it's like to live here

Making room for
real life.

Our shared principles come down to three ways of caring: for ourselves, for each other, and for the home.

Caring for ourselves

Be weird.

Unmasking is the default

Nobody has to perform being easygoing, explain their needs, or hide what they're going through. Vulnerable shares, authentic conversation, stimming, and direct questions are welcome.

Presence and exploration

We welcome mindfulness, spiritual exploration, truth-seeking, and embodied or ritual practices, together or on our own. Growth is never a requirement; there are also seasons of rest and just being.

Caring for each other

Be tender.

We take care of each other

Emotionally, physically and practically. When we're sick, we say so and mask in shared spaces. Substances are mindful, harm-reducing choices, without shame; we avoid excessive or intense altered states in shared life.

Say what you mean, close the loop

Clear, explicit communication, no guessing games. We talk to each other, not about each other. When something goes sideways, we repair. Time to reset is fine; later can't mean never.

Caring for the home

Be home.

Regular connection, optional invitations

We hang out, check in, hold space for each other, and welcome platonic touch, always by consent. Introverts welcome, as long as you value regular connection here.

Our communities are welcome

Hosting is part of what this house is for. We check in with housemates first, looking for their real consent rather than just their permission.

How it shows up

The rhythm of the house

Some of the ways our principles find their way into the week.

Every 2 weeks

A short check-in (about 15 minutes): a round, the next two weeks on the calendar, anything urgent.

Every 2 months

A deeper meeting: how hosting is landing, house projects, revisiting our shared documents.

A week ahead

Events go on the shared calendar, and hosts clean up within about 36 hours.

Any evening

A lamp on, or a message in the house thread, means “I'd love some company.” Nobody is obliged to answer.

Who we're looking for

Looking for our people.

We're looking for people who want to participate in a shared home, in ways that work for them.

  • Engaged at home. When you're here, you're part of shared space and house life. How often you're out doesn't matter.
  • Neurodivergent or genuinely ND-affirming. Comfortable with stims, transparency, weirdness, direct questions, and people being their unmasked selves.
  • Mindful and curious. Open-minded, contemplative, and into some kind of depth or embodied practice.
  • Glad the house hosts gatherings, not just okay with it, and at ease in a consent-literate home where platonic touch is welcome.
  • Direct and repair-minded. You give and receive feedback and move toward repair after conflict. Nonviolent Communication or similar is a plus.
  • Curious across differences. You seek to understand rather than convince.
  • Emotionally self-responsible, with support beyond the house.
  • Shared core values: anti-racism, feminism, sex- and kink-positivity, neurodiversity- and queer-affirming, and compassion for all living beings. Broadly progressive without being militant about it.
  • Solid on the basics: rent, chores, and cleaning up after yourself and your guests. Ideally looking for the long term, if the fit is great.

A living list. It doesn't need to be yours too; we're curious to see where there's overlap.

Every home has its own shape.

Ours might not be the right one for you if…

  • You need quiet all the time. We host gatherings here.
  • You're looking for a party house, with loud music, drinking, or games and the TV always on.
  • You'd rather the house be a place to sleep and be left alone.
  • Dogs or cats are hard for you. Two small dogs and a cat live here; new pets are considered case by case.

If that sounds like you, no hard feelings. We hope you find your people.

Introverts, very welcome. Needing a lot of alone time is fine. Wanting none of the house is the mismatch.

Rooms & costs

Find your space.

Each room has its own character. These are the current working monthly rents; availability and details can be discussed with the household.

Upstairs · shared hall bathroom

Garden Central

$725 / month

The garden’s front-row seat. Garden Central’s window looks straight out onto the planters and greenery, and soft north light keeps the warm hardwood glowing all day, never glaring. The bathroom is just across the hall, a morning commute of a few steps. A simple rectangle of about 117 square feet, it’s an easy room to furnish.

Peachy Greens

$795 / month

Peach walls, green leaves: the room is its own name. Peachy Greens is a sunset-warm corner room, with a rhododendron pressed right up to the window and tall evergreens beyond the garden. About 11 × 11 feet of warm hardwood, plus a wide, open closet with room for your whole wardrobe to stretch out.

Upstairs · private half bath

Back Perch

$975 / month for one · $1,250 for two

Perched in the treetops, with broad, sweeping views from a big window full of leaves and sky. Sun pools across the hardwood, and the walk-in closet’s wraparound shelves have room for everything you own and a few things you don’t yet. Roughly 155 square feet, plus your own private half bath: no hallway trips at 3 a.m.

Bonus: a bathroom closet. The ensuite’s old shower stall has retired from showering (its pan leaks) and now makes handy extra storage. Showers and baths happen in the shared hall bathroom.

Downstairs · shared bathroom

Bright Room

$750 / month

The Bright Room earns its name: windows on two sides pour in the afternoon light at the quiet end of the house. About 102 square feet of usable floor plus two closets, so your stuff gets its own rooms too. A chimney breast juts into the room, which makes arranging furniture a fun little puzzle.

Downstairs · non-conforming

Hobbit Hole

$925 / month

Snug as a hobbit hole should be, and roomier than you’d guess: about 210 square feet downstairs, the most floor space of any room for one. It keeps a cool, even temperature all year round, four small windows let the daylight in, and ample track lighting brightens the grayest winter days.

Utilities. Shared utility costs will likely average about $130 per month.

How it works

Getting to know each other.

Everyone here takes part in meeting you. Jake and Tricia, who own the house, make the final call.

  1. 1
    Say hello

Send a short video or voice intro so we get a sense of you.

  2. 2
    Meet the household

A conversation with everyone who lives here.

  3. 3
    Come for dinner

An evening hang-out, so you can feel the house and we can feel you.

  4. 4
    Start with a trial

Moving in begins with a trial period so everyone can check the fit. We'll go over the details together.
